After researching the forum, I really want to get my first MIG welding machine for hobby car panel work.
I want to use Gas (small hobby tanks), and get a reasonability good quality MIG welder. I prefer to get something that will suit a wide range of work not just for car panels / exhaust work. ie. making support frames, for satellite dishes, solar panels, stuff like that.
I've narrowed it to these 2 machines available locally. (Australia) I've got the idea set in head that I need a machine that can go below 30A for 0.8mm panel steel. I do realise that there is AMP variation depending on wire diameter as well which I haven't looked to much into.
Both machines are at the $850AUD (535GBP) mark, which might be a bit expensive for a chinese machine (choice #1) but these are the only two that I've found that can go below 30AMP. Cheap machines either have a minimum of 30AMP or 40AMP+
Choice #1 is a chinese machine (Jasic Rebadged) offered by a local business ran by an actual welder. Have good references for other ppl that purchased this machine.
Choice #2 is mainstream brand. (Transmig / Cigweld)
Was thinking of going for Choice #1 since it can go down to 25AMP for 0.8 panel steel but also go up to 200AMP for the just incase I need to use thicker stuff.. Not sure if Choice #2 (Transmig) if going all the way down to 10AMP brings any advantage when working with 0.8 Panel steel ? Was mainly thinking since machine can only go up to 175AMP that might be a limiting factor if I eventually need to use it on thicker steel for mounts etc.
