My new SWP 220 welder has started tripping my mcb.
At first it was on a 13amp plug on a ring with just a radio plugged in.
This ring is off a 32amp mcb of an rcd which is fed from a 40amp mcb in the main consumer unit.
It tripped the 32amp a couple of times and tripped the 32amp and the 40amp once.
weldequip suggested putting it on its own 16amp (which was the eventual plan anyway) did that then it kept tripping the 16amp
It seems to trip more often when doing tacks, the third tack will trip. It also trips when just feeding (ie 3 small feeds with no welding and it will trip)
weldequip said swap it for a type c. did that now it trips the 40amp.
So is there a problem with swapping the 40amp for a type C?
I dont want to comprimise safty elsewhere.
The 40amp feeds only in the consumer unit in the workshop.
