Woohoo! I have now got a fully functioning LCD temp gauge. My cup of tea was 49.68 degrees C. It seems to be that using the tachometer 'interupt' function on this Arduino screws around with the temp sensor somehow. Above my current level of comprehension so I'll just see if I can come up with a different Tachometer program that doesn't use the interrupt. Probably should have learned to walk before I tried to run, eh?
How many milliseconds does it take a computer to run a piece of code?? I had added this interrupt in order that the length of the code wouldn't alter the reading of time between pulses but perhaps that is not such a problem, in reality. In the book it explains the interrupt feature as being like having the use of a doorbell instead of having to constantly keep looking out of the door for the arrival of a parcel delivery, thus allowing you to monitor the arrival of the package whilst carrying out other tasks.
