I have an AC DC Tig welder. Have done very little alu work on it but going to give this a go next week. A Stihl consaw with a cracked mount. Likely magnesium casting and commimin for them to crack here.
I'm thinking I can avoid a full tear down and possibly make it stronger anyway by building up some weld around the weak area.
Is there a particular type of TIG rod I should use for Magnesium? And any other words of wisdom before I tackle it are appreciated.
I'm guessing grind it all out in the crack and bevel it good. Then get a good weld going and keep building it up whilst not building up too much heat. And clean it all very well with a die grinder and Acetone.
