Pardon me if I take your advice on LED bulbs with a pinch of salt, you incorrectly stated earlier in this thread that they don't do GU10's bigger than 5watt, I have 7watt in the kitchen.
50watt Halogen bulbs are superior in my opinion to any LED bulb I have tried to date, beam angle has little to do with light scatter around our kitchen. I have tried LED's with both a wider beam and narrower beam than the Halogens we used to use and they all do a poorer job of general illumination compared to the old Halogens.
I'm seriously considering going back to Halogen bulbs and just increasing the number of solar panels I have to offset the extra electric consumed by the Halogens. Yes it's an expensive solution but I'm getting fed up with poor quality lighting provided by LEDs,
I do know what you mean. It's hard to describe but led light is just not as "fullsome" as halogen.
I changed all ours though as there were plenty of spots and up inside the ceiling, the halogens would get really hot.
