Many years back i went halfers with a mate on a Clarke 100E. I've recently moved from scotland to lancashire, and as such sharing a welder doesnt really work.
He's agreed to buy my part off me and that leaves me in a position of requiring a new unit.
I'm looking at something with a bit more guts. I've never really got on with the 100E, not sure if my skills are just lacking, but it always just seemed to be lacking in power, and constantly produced pidgeon crap welds.
Maybe i'm just crap! But i've decided i want something that will have the guts to weld up the chassis on my landrover should it require it.
I dont have a huge budget, but similarly i'd like to take the opportunity to buy something thats half decent, even if that means spending a bit more. I've been looking at the Clarke 151TE, which appears to provide reasonable power for an alright price, and from what i can see doesn't seem to fair all that badly on here.
Are there any better options around that price point? There seems to be a huge gap from the £280ish of the 151te to over 400quid if you want to go any better?
As i say i dont mind spending a bit more, but £400 is out of reach. I'm also happy to look at used machines, but if i was buying used it adds a whole extra layer of uncertainty.
Thanks
Kev
