I bought a cheap auto-darkening one - about £35 - from ebay, and it seems to work okay. It is light and comfortable to wear, but not so strongly made as a more 'pro' helmet.
But I tend to take care of my kit, so it don't get thrown around like it might in a workshop environment. I wear glasses and there is room for them inside this helmet; I have heard that some helmets are close-fitting which make glasses difficult to wear.
Parweld are supposed to make good helmets for not that much more money, something like this:
