I can't see the torch connections there but you need to remove the wire, roll it back onto the drum after you snip the end and don't let go of it. Thread it through a hole in the side of the reel and twist it round to secure it. Disconnect the trigger wires from the relay and the end of the liner from the feed block and anything else that is holding it then pull it out.
the tricky part is remove the torch from the welder itself. Putting back the wire in the spool no problem i am used to do it on my others welders, but i don´t know how to disconect the torch from the welder. the is a nut on the driver motor assembly but i dont want to mess around with it before i am sure it release the torch from the welder.
the torch is a lincoln lg 150g. and it is not a euro torch.
I had a SP-170, From memory, it is a Tweco type fitting on the torch, As said, remove 2 small spade trigger wires and I believe that the torch is held by a pinch bolt, just unscrew it a little and the torch should just pull out,
Thanks for this, I struggled removing mine too. Spent hours trying to figure out.
So Lincoln cast the housing of the migtorch the plastic bits. Bernard soldered and created the brass tubing and fittings. And tweco type fitting on the end of the torch.
I took entire torch apart only to find everything is soldered and crimped. The shroud/diffuser are a very interesting size that nobody seems to stock, and the contact tips are also an interesting size and shape that nobody seems to stock. Contact tip is friction fit, diffuser is friction fit, brass bits soldered together, copper bits crimped together.
Even the connectors for the trigger are interestingly shaped. Tried swapping just the torch for a standard modern chinese one so I had access to more contact tips n shrouds etc.
I spoke with lincoln they don't have the parts, I spoke with brenard they don't remember ever having made this and never seen one of these before. Havent bothered messaging tweco yet.
I've got the Sp170i Bigboy. Test #86 (not sure what the test numbers are for but they seem to be on the SP170's for some reason)
In one of these pictures I put a modern AK15 brass fitting next to the brenard one. Very different size. This brenard one requires a 13 1/2 mm friction fit diffuser and the contact tip is also friction fit. Also the torch lead on both ends have two extra unconnected brown wires same gauge as the trigger ones, guessing spares just incase the main ones break.
Going to convert my welder to Euro like original poster. Only because I can't find diffusers and contact tips for this machine in the UK.
