As a company R tech started off making machine repairs so are in a position to know what fails and as Chinese manufacturers produce what the customer wants they incorporate components specified by R tech (and other manufacturers) to eliminate the problems. They offer a RTD warranty and apart from Brad I know nobody who has a failed machine and while a number of their components, like others, are Chinese, they appear to have eliminated the major problems.
Well... R-Tech have had issues with solenoid valves over the past year or two. Mine (admittedly a TIG, not a MIG) failed repeatedly; first time it failed in the closed position so they sent me a replacement valve to fit myself. That soon failed in the open position so this time it went back to them and I got it back a few weeks later. I know for a fact that I am not the only one to have had the same problem and R-Tech admitted as much in conversation.
Got it back a couple of weeks later and sold it for a bonkers amount on eBay; now have a nice red Lorch and the control and stability of the arc is night and day compared to the R-Tech - as testament to the power supply circuitry mentioned by @HughF and @matt1978 previously in this post.
