Hi folks, I'm finally finding the time to properly get to grips with my ESAB mig that I've had for a few months now but as someone who's always been a stick welder I'm finding the transferal a bit wobbly...
Riddle me this...
Why when I'm using 0.8mm wire and following the settings guide chart which seems to be ok-ish up to 4mm thick do they become totally useless on the 5mm and 6mm settings (as thick as it'll do) when it's cranked up to 9 and 10?
I'm guessing it's just too hot for that wire & I'd need to step up to 1.0mm wire? The "bacon frying" sound completely goes out the window & the arc becomes a mess & the whole thing sounds like a constant Lightsaber buzzing.
I keep trying to tempt my fabricator mate round with a go on the power hammer in return for a mig lesson but he hasn't bitten yet. Any help would be appreciated!
