Had a play for the first time.
3mm Ali with some unknown rods and wrong tungsten (red top thoriated) I've ordered some wp 20 consumables as I don't have any. My last torch was a 17/26
Anyways this is my very first weld with it and on Ali set at 130amp max with pedal 100hz and 80% balance.
It is soooooo nice to use compared to my old set. And the torch is flat cold, it feels odd.
It's hard to see what is stamped on them. Some are I think 4043, some say "pure" and some have what looks to be three "x" on them.
They are from a mixed bundle my brother gave me I use for messing about with.
4043 is 5% Si
It's a common widely used filler for AlSi materials, castings and 6xxx grade material.
Pure??? I've never seen that stamped on a filler rod before but pure Al is 1xxx grade which is what looks to be on your welding pics as it has a tendency to produce mirror like welds.
You've got to take technical arc's sales blurb with a pinch of salt - this power source design is 80% as complicated as an inverter power source, they're claims of simplicity and reliability are really baseless. Let this fill up with grinding dust and it'll blow up just as easily as an inverter.
