I went on a brewery tour of the Hogs Back Brewery near Farnborough/Aldershot. Still classed a micro brewery, but who ever it was who masterminded the success of one of the small regional beers onto national/international success is now on the board of directors so it should be a name you hear more of in the next 3-5 yrs.
I cannot remember the name of the beer this fellow made famous as i was half cut at this stage of the tour but it was definitely something as well known as Spitfire, Bishops Finger, hobgoblin etc.
Anyway, I had not ever had a session on ale-beer before but I was very pleasantly surprised. An acquired taste but was pretty nice.
The tour was the best bit because the guide was a retired brewmaster and had lots if interesting funny stories about how it's made and the politics/hard work involved in getting the supermarkets and national chain pubs to take the beers.
Still prefer "proper" Cider though!
