Good point - I should have been clearer than when it was working, it certainly wouldn't create an arc in thin air, so I guess it doesn't have pilot arc.I didn't think these machines had a pilot arc, I fire mine in air to check the pressure gauge on start up and there are no blue flames or flashes from the torch.
and it certainly doesn't seem to bother my consumables, ive had the same set on since I got the thing in November and have done a fair bit with it.
you must have a pilot arc then, the cut 40 / 50 machines of Chinese origin don't have this feature so don't hurt the consumables, they only createMy Hypertherm 30 will create a small arc for a short period even if fired into the air and that's what ruins the consumables.
