Hi all, my name is Mark, decided to register after reading some of the mig welding advice stuff, very helpful.
I have never mig welded before and only ever done maybe two inches of stick welding. After some reaserch I decided on an R-tech mig 180 over the cheapo ones, didn't realise how much difference there was until reading through this site, better settings and euro torches for example. I will be picking the welder up from R-tech themselves on fri 10/02 and I feel like a kid at christmas. I have already picked a bottle of hobby 5 and I plan on buying a helmet, gloves and wire etc from R-tech. After much practice the first thing I need to do is automotive work on my truck, then I will probably get carried away and everything from then on will be made from metal lol.
I am looking forward to getting started and in the future I would like to post some pics of my welding to get opinions on penetration, under cut and other things I don't understand, but I would appreciate any advice for a beginner on any aspect of welding or h+s, I'm no dummy and am very practical but this is a new venture for me and I feel there is a lot I don't know.
Looking forward to chatting with you guys, Mark.
