So I decided to spruce-up a light trailer I bought for £20 a few years ago.
Everything was gong well till I got the the wheels.
I de-rusted the first one (electrolysis) and found 2 holes in it which I welded-up and then painted it. Might be ok, might not.
I then went to do the other one and it's toast.
Started searching for another 8" slide-on(?) wheel and realised it wasn't going to be easy to get one. Then I found one which looked right on Gumtree but I wasn't going to get too excited about it till I was sure it fitted.
Turns out it doesn't.
I have period book/brochure showing my trailer and reckon it's from the 70s.
The new wheel must be a good bit older as it has Imperial bearings and my trailer has metric. I thought mine would def have Imperial.
Question is - how do I get round this?
I could perhaps cut the hub out of the original wheel and weld it into the 'new' rim but would like a simpler solution
70s(?) trailer to refurb
looks like this one
one wheel refurbed
other one is toast
substitute wheel found
bearings differ
bearing from substitute on 'axle'
original bearings appear to be metric
bearings from substitute wheel are Imperial
