What's behind the hole?
Make the hole round ish and put a Rawlnut through, washer under the screw head and tighten to seal.

Could you do me a favour please? Post a picture of the chain guard and the mount that snapped off.As always a fun day on motox go to wash my bike and oil leaking out looks like something has hit the chain guard and snapped it do you think I can get away with having it welded until I do a rebuild
I will post it in the morning mateCould you do me a favour please? Post a picture of the chain guard and the mount that snapped off.
Had this happen to the last MX I had an old CR250 - the water pump housing got smashed - it was bodged with gripfill of all things (didn't really know of chemical metal back then) and was the only thing to hand. It held for years more of abuse before my brother decided to strip and a rebuild with a new casing. Many years later a brand new chain snapped on my brothers much newer CR250 and it cut a notch out of the casing (water pump housing again IIRC) that one he stripped down and sent the part off to be welded - can't find the details of the guy but recall he was based down Somerset / Cornwall way - he did a cracking job posted back the same day and the bike was all back together ready for the meet the following week cost £30 or £40 from what I remember it was still perfect when the bike was sold several years later.
Behind the broken part of the casing is a bearing that supports the end of the input gear shaft. The clutch pushrod runs through that shaftI don't think that's a waterpump though I could be wrong. Looks more like the clutch pushrod actuator housing.
