My bike forks have one 6 MM bolt stuck in place. It was badly rounded when I bought it used, so when I needed to move it, I drilled away the head with a left hand drill (didn't budge it) so I could get the part off but now I'm left with a little stub. I tried mole grips on it but they couldn't grip it. I tried welding a good bolt to it and turning that but it snapped, tried again, snapped again, tried again, snapped again. I can't heat it up with a torch because the forks are painted and I don't want to mess that up.
The only other option I can think of is to drill it completely away and Helicoil it or use some other threaded insert.
Do any of you know any better way I've missed, any ideas appreciated.
