Chuck a diamond wheel into the stew, and the world's yer lobster.....TIG brazing them on is a very good method. It works superb on cemented carbide tips.
I have a old box of mixed tips that I use to make my own tooling.
This is one I made for my boring head.

Yes. I’ve also brazed HSS Coventry die box inserts to steel bar before, for screw cutting. Carbide should work just as easily.I've brazed them with oxy acetylene with no problem
yep just the same as brazing anything else. easy enough with just a propane torch and a bit of packing round it to retain the heat if you havent oxy acet . and if you dont have a diamond sharpening wheel get a green sharpening stone and you can also sharpen your masonary drills up with it as wellI've brazed them with oxy acetylene with no problem
I want to braze the tips to a piece of square rod so that it will serve as a cutting tool on my lathe.Silver solder would be my preference, less heat, runs better and should be more than strong enough.
It will depend on what you are trying to acheive.
More info will get you better answers.
Could you tell which silver rods have you used?Yes. I’ve also brazed HSS Coventry die box inserts to steel bar before, for screw cutting. Carbide should work just as easily.
