Whats the largest MIG you can use on a 240v single phase supply??
A question I often get asked as people want to be able to weld thick stuff but don't have a 3 phase electric supply.
You can, in actual fact, get 240v single phase MIGs up to 450 AMP on single phase! These require a HUGE 240v supply however, 63amps or so - so would even cook your 35amp electric cooker supply. A bolt in the fuse holder of a standard 13amp plug is NOT the answer (as favoured by the farming fraternity!!).
Generally, you are OK up to about 170amps on a standard 13amp fused plug; above that & it will keep popping the fuse - a 16amp or 32amp supply is then required.
