Close to death from handling car batteries???!!!

As a mechanic in a former life I never even had so much as a mild tickle when handling batteries. How on earth are you supposed to put the leads on and tighten them without touching the terminals?
Cold cranking amp ratings are usually in the high hundreds, not 80, but being only 12 volts means that it won't hurt you. If there was a significant risk of electrocution than there would undoubtedly be be stringent safety precautions in place for handling car batteries.
