Well the start of, if I get fed up I will buy one of the dam things.
In my usual way I start to build things before I really plan them, so this afternoon I have this:-
4 pieces of 100 x 100 x 4mm wall box section, cut at an angle of 28 degrees, basically because that angle still allowed me to get the box in the vice and cut on the bandsaw.
I then tacked and held in the milling machine to trim the bottom edges flat, then welded both sides, stitching as I went until sort of filled.
I have some CDS tube which is 32mm outside dia with a 25mm bore, so thinking of using that to form the pin mountings and use 25mm bar for the dowels, then I decided I better start checking things out so now working out things with a simple CAD program to see how things would fit.
Without knowing what the typical die size is I have assumed a 30mm radius, but think, I need bigger. If anyone can let me know typical sizes I would be a bit happier with progressing.
The top of the tubes is 235mm, so not very tall, and the larger the dies the more I have to move them up the frame.
I guess I would like to bend up to 40 x 8 or 10mm thick, probably 8mm and to be able to do a little edge bending would be a bonus. on bar would think 16mm x 16mm square would be enough and 16mm round, 20 could be a push, need to work out area of metal as I guess it could come down to that.
Any good ideas appreciated, need to get some 150 x 6 or 8 mm for the base and figure out how I am going top drill the tubes and keep them parallel, guess in the milling machine will see if I can get a 32mm cutter to fit my 30 Int holders.
