Id thought id put a post of this up as the cutting part of the job could easily come in handy for a DIY job, The idea came to me and a mate the other day, I had some wheal centres Id been asked to modify the problem was that both our lathes were unable to swing 30" in the gap 26" is about tops on mine, so we thought of a heath robinson way of cutting the centre away but to within a few thou, a tollorance pleanty good enouth for this job..
This is the patten wheal the parts im working on are a bolt in centre.
Next the centre was carefully DTI up on the mill, the stud holes are crucial,
The DROs are set for 8 stud holes, the boxes make jobs like this so much more easy, at this stage I bolted another centre on top so i could drill the 2 in one hit.
Right holes done on the pair time to remove the centre's with the old bolt holes, the centres clear the plantery hubs,
Now heres the heath robinson part an old divideing head with a cordless drill and a clamp for the plasma torch, tock about an hour to knock up.
More to follow.....
