Thought I should follow protocol and introduce myself here, I've been lurking here a little while soaking in the content and learning lots. I'm Cambridge based and have no real welding experience other than an afternoon of MMA during an apprenticeship more than a couple of decades ago, and then a couple of hours bumbling around with a dilapidated transformer mig and some scrap more recently.
My goal is to take time to properly learn and practice. The immediate project is wanting to fix-up my rust bucket of a recovery truck that's been rotting in place since pre-pandemic times then I can take the car out to trackdays again (after fixing the car)! The car will get some custom brackets and patches made along the way... but not until my skills become a bit less agricultural!
Storage is limited so it'll be a neat little inverter box for me, but still deciding how multifunction to go as I don't need TIG now but would be keen to learn it later. I'll refrain from posting my "what welder" dilemma out there until I've finished digesting all the help forum members have contributed to people treading this path before me - I've already learnt so much in the last few weeks from the great content and community here, so thanks all!
