My Binzel torch is up and working again so I'm not pressured but it would be nice to know if the other one could fit as the consumables are so very cheap.
A torch cant determine anything, there is an earth which is separate from the torch, then you press a button and air comes,
that means you have pressed a switch that controls an air valve via a solenoid, is this function already on the Chinese torch,
if so then that,s solved and will be proved when you press the button and get air.
As far as the arc goes, there is a pilot feature that your old torch triggers, how does it do this,
then there is the safety feature that means you have to push down a cup, this cup is just a switch,
If your Binzel torch pushes into a multi pin plug, then it will be easy to meter the wires coming down the
torch cable, for example disconnect the Binzel, if you look for wires that are paired this may indicate that
each pair performs a function, if you press a button on the Binzel, a circuit should be completed, find this,
if you press the cap down another circuit should be created, find this, that may leave two wires which by
process of elimination can be attributed to the striking of the pilot arc.
If your Chinese torch does not have all the wires to allow this functionality, you will have to add them
even if there is no cap to push down on you Chinese torch, the circuit will still have to be closed, and you will need the two wires either shorted or connected via a switch do this.
If it does not have a button to open the air, which will be a must if your Binzel has a button for this,
then you will have to add one by finding the wires that do this on the Binzel and adding similar to the torch.
It is not impossible to do, but it is critical to get the wires right, if you are good with electrics then you will
probably find it doable, if not, get someone who knows what they are doing to wire it up.
When you get it all working cut up few hundred feet of inch solid and make a cage for working on explosive
encasements such as barrels, gas cylinders and air tanks, that way you will live longer.
You seriously came close to death, and death lasts a long time.

Thank you for your advice on both the plasma torch and the staying alive. Have no fear, despite making light of the situation, I am aware of how close I came, again. No point in getting all stressed out though, I've been working on pressure vessels and HPA all my life, with experience comes complacency. I'm just grateful that the blast went away from my body rather than toward, and this latest experience will hopefully make me think, and think again before doing anything so stupid again.
