I have some experience in backyard arc welding. I have a small ozito 140 amp from Bunnings and am getting better with more experience, its fine for the work that I do with it. Recently I have deciced to have a go at making my own solar panels for my RV so therefore part of the project is to construct rectangluar boxes using Ali angle about 1.5 mil. I was going to pop rivet them together using some sort of bracket, but thought that would be pretty shoddie. I thought the only answer would be to weld the angles together. So therefore i went to Bunnings again (This was before I knew this sight existed) and noticed a 135 amp ozito gas/gasless mig welder. I asked the salesman can I weld ali with this he said yes and also sold me some 0.8 mm ali welding wire. After reading many threads there is a wealth of knowledege out there and hats off to whoever came up with the idea of creating this site. Now that you have the background, now the questions.
1. Is there such a thing as gasless ali wire.
2. Can you weld ali on gasless mode using this ali welding wire.
I do realise I will need to do heaps of practice and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks Guys
