We've got an old Cebora plasma cutter at the steam museum, I know modern technology, it's not been used much since i've been there. I had a go at using it to crop the corner off some 10mm plate a few months back an it's cut was a bit hit and miss. Some places it had penetrated others it didnt quite make it through, far from the clean cut I expected.
Anyway since I last tried it it's been away supposedly getting repaired by someone who knows about these things but hasnt yet reappeared. Ive asked that it be brought back so I can have a look at it and see what the problem may be. I'm expecting something with the torch consumables. It supposedly had new tip, shroud etc before I tried to use it.
We definately had plenty of air to the machine as registered on the gauge on front panel and compressor is huge. I'm susupecting the air may not have been getting through constantly to the torch.
Not exacly sure of the exact model but looks a lot like the Cebora Prof 50 here:-http://www.selemarc.com/eng/technical-info/equipment/plasma-cebora-prof-50/2951bca9e4c4124e93d1434c5a79bd6d/
Could also be my technique I've only ever used a plasma on thin sheet before and you could cut that almost as fast as you could move. I slowed down a good bit on the 10mm sheet to give it time to cut through, would this possibly have made it worse? What sort of torch travel speed is usual for 10mm plate?
