Just registered. Currently living in Bulgaria for 4 1/2 years. Retired mechanic, kitcar enthusiast. Have an aged Maypole Maximig 100 that has served me well but now getting a bit 'cranky'. Replaced the torch and leads ect last year and it worked very well. Unused for about 6 months and stored in a dry concrete garage. Went to use it and nothing! I checked plug and fuse, internal fuse and all wires and connections, all looked ok. The circuit board looked ok but rather than mess with it I took the machine to a welder repair man. He done a few tests, disappeared and came back with a new board complete and fitted it. Turned it on and test welded on a scrap piece of train rail. Produced an impressive bead of weld. 2 days later I needed to weld some brackets to my well head but the weld was quite weedy. The welder, argon gas bottle were both placed in a metal wheel barrow and wheeled to my well.(easier than lifting). It had rained the day before so ground was a little damp. Metal was angle ground clean but weld was weedy and I also got a tingle from the welder. Not a full shock just a tingle. Any ideas please?
