Size E? Price not too bad, though plus postage and tax.I recommend the Multifix style from here:- http://www.createtool.com/list.asp?cid=33
They have them on backorder, I may wait and see when they get them in stock.Chronos do sell the bigger size so it might be worth giving them a call to see if it is coming back in stock. They have always been really helpful with me in the past.
Why is T2 "too big"?T2 will be too big, there are T1 holders that take 20mm. As discussed this isn't a production enviroment and it looks like he is going away from Dickson anyways
Why is T2 "too big"?
Distance from top of the compound to centre height? Is ~40mm on mine (2002 Student 2500 - but effectively the same lathe as M300 by that point). Mine came with the 63.5mm tall S1 variant. If you look at the specs here, they list the min/max (G) for each model & the S2 would be right near the bottom of it's range.
I suspect width also plays a part, can't see that having the tool sitting any further away from the compound would help rigidity?
S1 and S1X are reccomended for lathes with centre heights of less than 127mm.
A M300 has a centre height of 167mm.
Either way its the piston jobbie, after taking a closer look I made sure I went for the wedge type111 is wedge, 100 should be piston
