Finally got round to rebuilding my lathe to day. I'd sent it off (well the parts) to Brian Caddy at Slideway Services in Nuneaton. He regound the bed taking off a massive 70thou yes you read it right 1.6mm, and the same from the underneath of the saddle, rebuilding it with Marlon, so the rack and pinion would still mesh, and also the screw cutting gearbox would not need mod'ing to sit under the headstock. The cross slide gib was worn out so that was treated with Marlon as well. All surfaces were refinished. The headstock hand scraped in, along with the tail stock but that was beyond it, more later on that.
Really happy with the result. Brian is a top bloke. When I went to collect it he was starting on the 2nd of 14 Bridgeports from the RAF.
