Hey guys. What should have been an easy and enjoyable job has turned into a nightmare. Basically the off road buggy project that I have been working on is ready for some paint, specifically the front wishbones. I cleaned them using a flap disc on my grinder back to bare metal, then the plan was to use some Hammerite Satin Black for a tough finish.
The first attempt ended in disaster, the paint just didn't take to the metal so I cleaned it all off to start again. Thinking the problem was a lack of primer, I sprayed them last night with some Etch Primer and have just tried again with the same result. The paint simply won't take to the primer, I tried two different good quality brushes but it just smears all over the place without sticking.
I've never had this problem before with paint and I'm stuck now, could it be a bad batch of paint or is it something more obvious that I've missed?
