Hello, I did move that from the stick forum where it was not really in its place :
Thank you Richard
cutting and beveling can be done "free hand" (I mean using a concrete guide to stabilise the hand ) ?
Or is it worth buying directly a chinese cutter (delivered with a torch I think about 280€ . They can be driven by a simple PC software I suppose, or even without software for straight run ?
AN Oxy Acetylene torch kit allow to weld also and provide different buses so I am hesitating
Is not TIG style welding possible with the torch and a small enough buse ? I have no real need for that at the moment but I am interested in learning also welding sheet metal 2-6 mm thick.
I did notice I can make 'drops' or small beads on 2mm metal, with a 2.5mm 6013, but can I use the oxy-acetylen torch for such small thicknesses.
If I want to TIG I need to buy the 17 valve torch, the gas, the gas flow meter and pressure devices, it makes quite an investment. I'd prefer the oxy-acetylen as it allows branding, pre heating (I think) working brass and copper, etc..
Same gas bottles for cutting and welding/brasing I suppose
I find a kit with bottles up to 7 hrs with maximum flow (100l/hr) about 740 €
1m3 and 0,8m3
But is not it better to buy a larger kit (due to the gas bottle refill for instance)
Is cutting using more gas than welding ?
Then, for instance I can buy professional second hand equipment for a fair price

Smaller ones are available for about 300€-500 (air liquide oxyflam, hobbyist seem to buy and resell them quite often : https://www.alexis-robert-bricolage...Q1zs7V0YW0rRAA_4T13b6RoCGEwQAvD_BwE#ectrans=1
They are the easiest to find, 1m3 bottles
May I ask a picture showing the pressure to see if the bottles have some gas in them ?
And .... (sorry) is that system worth (oxygen + gasoline) : https://fr.aliexpress.com/store/pro...08.html?spm=a2g0w.12010612.0.0.413ebba2QrL21K

Down to 10 possibly 8mm it’s spot on. We also have one at work and it prepares plates lovely
Lower than 8-10mm and it’s not such a heart ache to prep up with a 9”.
The trick is to use the correct nozzle for a start, set a nice pressure on the bottles, sharp flame with the primary O2 feed and travel speed is key. It’s not gonna match a plas prep on really thin gage but it’s a priceless tool if your preparing plates for a nice job.
A carbide burr like you show in the pics is a very very long drawn out way to do it unless your working with sheet metal in which case mma wouldn’t be the best weapon of choice for welding
Thank you Richard
