Aluminium being very soft it clogs the teeth of the file quickly. The chalk in the teeth slows this, but also means it will come out easily with a wire brush or a file card.Total novice question, what does rubbing chalk on a metal file do? Never been to any engineering courses and totally self taught in whatever I bodge - but not come across the chalk trick.
