Hi all,
Been lurking for a bit as used to do some recreational welding (old cars & bikes for fun) many years ago & never really lost interest in playing with big boys toys... I've found loads of useful & helpful information from just reading - so thank you in advance or should that be retrospect?
Have found myself in a bit of a weird situation now as I had an 'interesting' cardiac event about 20 months ago which ended up with me being fitted with my own jump-starter (Implanted Cardiac Defibrillator).
To cut a long & boring story short, I've now been declared medically retired & find myself with a bit of time on my hands... Great, thinks I; I can get on and restore the tinworm-infested piece of Chevrolet's finest which has been sitting waiting patiently for me to find some time
Now we come to the challenge:
When I asked my cardiac nurse if I could weld again with an ICD fitted she was so non-committal it was unreal. I was given a 4 page risk assessment which included comments such as "lying in standing water is not recommended"... I have contacted the manufacturer and asked the same question and, as yet, have had no response (an American company, so it should be interesting).
Anyone got any personal experience / information / advice on who to talk to to share?
Hope to hear back
