I was looking more at getting heat into the top plate when i came up with it but yes. Now i need to work out how to get some hot air in there for secondary burn above the baffles. Should have done that before i painted it i think.Yep, you could fill the whole length of this angles with a plate baffle. That should slow down the burn rate.
all we use for the rocket burner is a little piece of metal about 3mm as a stump to the flue pipe then we use stainless steel flue pipe its all ive used and i clock over 1000F on those systems its the output temp that is alot lower entering the flue as its only around 300F and alot less as it goes up the flue pipe as long as the heat is high enough not to form creosote up the chimney its fine
Does this burn smokeless then??all we use for the rocket burner is a little piece of metal about 3mm as a stump to the flue pipe then we use stainless steel flue pipe its all ive used and i clock over 1000F on those systems its the output temp that is alot lower entering the flue as its only around 300F and alot less as it goes up the flue pipe as long as the heat is high enough not to form creosote up the chimney its fine
where in the country are you??What did you use for the flue, and where did you buy or find it? I'm having trouble finding anything suitable, i.e. about 4" across with enough wall thicknes to be able to weld it. I've been a scrap dealer but the best I got was some paper-thin 4" stuff which I can't weld properly, or some sturdy downpipe but at 70mm it's too narrow bore, really.
Any ideas?
Interesting way round a defra approved stoveonly smokes at the start for 4-5 mins then fully smokeless on most rocket burners
all mine are only 3mm thickness for any part of exit for the flue as your not hitting high temps at that area with rocket burners or the ones i have on display

Ah ok miles away. I can get thick walled pipe in the Midlands. But thats a bit far to come to collect it...Norfolk.
decoir its just standared flue liner pipe that is used
this one i was wanting a long burn time without the hassle of loads of loadings and less wood being burnt in them
this is the new one moving away from the stainless steel vortex pipe
daily motion videos above is my own design a wood burner that can be burnt normal way and then can be burnt in the downdraft position upside down
oh one other thing 2-3 builders buckets to keep warm all day 1st one is fast burn at high heat the others are just top up loads
What kind of wall thickness has it got? I would like something 2mm or thicker, ideally, so that I stand a chance of being able to weld it successfully. The stuff I tried last night was thin enough to have some flex if squeezed in the hands and I was just blowing holes straight through it. It even warped away from the heat a lot of the time. No good for a ham-fisted welder like me.
