I've had loads from British Gas, think they must of made a mistake! None of them are any good in my house tho, most of my fittings are screw in and they keep sending Bayonet!
Southern Electric sent me 2 of the 11W Phillips bulbs (a bit mean if British Gas are showering people with bulbs). We replaced the hallway lights which were previously fitted with very slow starting bulbs (known here as darkbulbs) which had to be left on all the time and defeated the point of having them. The Phillips ones are much better.
British Gas sent us a box of four. We had previously been given some (five or six I think) of the older slow starting type when we had a grant to insulate the cavity walls. That must be six years ago and none of them has failed yet. We use the slow starting ones in rooms which are used more or less constantly in the evenings, so once they're on they tend to stay on for a few hours. They do seem to restart fairly quickly once they're hot though.
We also have the slow starters in the loo - doesn't hurt your eyes if you have to get up in the middle of the night (I'm getting to that age now)
