Never, ever got on with stick welding but managed to get my new RTech MTS250 unpacked today and all of a sudden I can stick weld!
Now, I know that these may not look much, but this 5" bead is literally 4.5" longer than I have ever managed before. That's 3mm box section with 4mm 6013s (all I had lying around). I also know that the height is all of the place and that it's hardly a straight line - I was just so excited that it was working
Sooooo much easier than a buzz box - just do what the tutorials say and tap or scratch to start and then drag it along. What a machine.
Oh - and I know I can't really stick weld - just goes to show that a good tool in an incompetent's hands might produce something, err, slightly better than cr*P
