Hi,
I am totally new to welding, and I am looking to buy my first welder.
I don't have a workshop or garage to weld in, so it will just be used outside on my patio, which is somewhat protected from the wind. It will have to run off a normal 13amp household supply.
I want a welder generally jobs round the house, as well as some car work, as I'm getting an older car that will need work later towards summer time.
I'd rather have MIG, but I don't mind ARC as its cheaper and probably better for outdoor use.
I don't really want to spend more than £150 maybe.
I'm looking at a Clarke 100E on ebay which is very local to me, although I think it may be a bit to low powered for a couple of jobs I have planned. One of which is welding a 15mm bar into a 15mm hole in a bike frame.
I've also been looking at a couple arc welders like the Clarke 145 or 160 for the extra power.
Can anyone advise me as to what will be the best for me?
Thanks!
