So, how did I do for my first attempt, I believe the steel is 2.5 or 3mm, I was using 0.8mm wire, pushing away ftom me.
Getting a comfortable hold on the gun can be a task in its self. But when you find a position that suits you it will make it easier. ..I will post a couple of pics tomorrow on how I hold the gun and use my other to support. A few pics might help you find that critical position.
It's is tough to start with. But with lots of practice it will become more easy. It can be the simple things that can cause the most frustrating times. Am down the shed this morning so will post a couple of pics. That would be a big help, thank you!!
It's tougher than I thought it would be, lots of information to process but I'm enjoying it. Reminds of when I was learning to drive (years ago), having to think about everything separately, clutch, gas, hand brake on/off, mirrors etc. and now it's all natural, hopefully welding willmbe too
No problem..a good set of gloves is a must. Getting your self in to a relaxed position is key.moving along will come with practice. Once you get familiar with holding the gun you can then concentrate on gun angle and distance from work piece. Glad I could be of help.WOW, I am impressed!!! Thank you mate
Thanks for taking the time to do that, the picture quality is fantastic too!
I bought a pair of thick rigger gloves when I got the welder but discovered yesterday they aren't thick enough, my left hand was getting too hot so I was adjusting my hold to avoid the the heat, a pair of proper gloves is in order and some anti spatter spray too.
I didnt get the chance to practice today, unexpected visitor. I'm really looking forward to trying the hold you've shown, i think i will find it comfortable and make things easier for me, especially moving along smoothly.
