Long time lurker, first time poster, looking for a bit of advice on starting up.
I'd like to try and learn to weld primarily for grounds maintenance/ domestic projects (repairing ironworks, rusted trellices, busted sack barrows, stuff like that - metal generally between 1mm and half an inch thick). I don't really have any indoors space that's well ventilated so I'm going to end up working primarily outdoors.
I'm looking into O/A welding because time isn't really an issue for the jobs I want to do, and I don't think my little bungalow's mains supply would cope with an arc welder. Any advice on what to pick up when starting out, and how to go about learning techniques, plus other tools I might need to keep handy when working, is most welcome. Safety advice would also be very welcome, because there seems to be a lot of ways I can blow myself or my house up using an O/A rig and I'd quite like to avoid doing that.
Cheers!
