So I've got my Portamig and I've started to weld together my first gate.
Width of the gate is 3m wide by 1.8m height. However. After welding frame together it is 5mm wider at the bottom than the top. Measuring 3m exactly at the bottom and 2995mm at the top - box section to box section. Does this matter and will it be noticeable when hung? Shall i re-fabricate?
Also I've used 40x40 box section and plan to insert 20mm hardwood slats to infill the gate. This leaves me with 20mm play to insert eyebolts. As you can guess the gate is going to be very heavy.... Would an M10 eye bolt be sufficient for this or will I need to rout the wood out to get a bigger eyebolt in?
Any suggested hinges other than eye bolts?
