I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the best/simplest method for filling dings in an exhaust component.
It is a cosmetic cover that sits in contact with an exhaust manifold and needs some thumbnail sized dents and buckles covered before it gets some VHT paint on it.
I'd assume that it might reach a few hundred degrees C during use (?) so normal fillers won't work. Silver solder is too pricey and brazing would also entail lots of work, so, are there any materials that might work? Stove repair stuff? I tried a Fireplace filler but it is very gritty and doesn't like to be sanded.
Ideally it would be high-temp but would smooth and sand like Bondo.
Thanks.
