Does any body have any time welding Fecralloy and InCo 625 that has been thought a few 800c heat cycles.
I have come in to a new job in the last 10 weeks and have seen some god awful welding from the lads Im working with I'm not saying there bad welders at all but the stuff is just nasty to weld never mind once its been heat cycled I just feel it can be done better.
We are joining this metal to each other and old to new unheat cycled stock but no body but me is standing back and trying to put some science in to improve the weld or the way its done. On the self we have all the right filler rods as much gas as we can waste ect and a Lorch T220 Pro with a pedal.
To date I have found prepping the work as if it was old aluminium has really help along with grinding the tungsten in one of my legendary grinders to a 30 deg point doing a factory reset to get all the messing about of settings that others have done was a good move all so and the Lorch manual is very poor.
What Id really like to know is what would the experienced welders of exotic metals do for set up when walking up to the bench to have ago at this.
Im sorry I cant tell you what it is for but trust me its not exciting stuff really. And please don't say take it to a real welder that's not a option at all when we need a part right there for testing and we have to wait 2 mouths for the guy to go for a security back ground check and how do I become a better welder If I don't ask.
