Fan stopped working on Clarke mig welder

Guys, been using my Clarke mig welder today to patch up my mates mk2 golf and the fan has stopped working, when I started it was fine then there was a sound like a fuse blowing and the fan stopped
Been able to weld with no problems so carried on working
now I've had a look inside but can't find any fuses, any body got any ideas???

Does the fan motor look burnt?

I can't seen any scorch / burn marks on the fan motor windings etc, and have no way of testing the power to it either

Mine did this a while back on my Butters welder.
Open up the back, take the fan off, give it a spin and a drop of 3 in 1 oil or similar, spin it by hand a few times in each direction and it should be fine.
Mine had been making a hideous noise for a few days before it seemed to croak on me. I figured a fuse or capacitor had nuked itself.

I had to look for a few days to check that it was working after oiling it.

Sniff the fan you can usually smell it if its burnt out, also a good tip if you buy drills etc of a boot sales. "Unplug welder first"
also check to see if you have a voltage at the fan ? always use clip probes and keep one hand in your'e pocket when checking electrical items unless you know what you are doing.

Borrowed a tester today got volt at the fan, so whipped it out for a closer look and 1 of the winding wires that go to the terminals has gone
So now need to source a new fan or find a suitable alternative

if so they can be found in old microwave ovens and all manner of things and on ebay under a tenner

Well found an old microwave in the skip at work, took the cover off and bingo it has a similar fan, same type but just a different blade and cowling
Once home, tested the new fan and it worked a treat, i stripped them both fitted the bracket off the old one to the new and bolted it all back up
It works fine, not sure that it blows/sucks the same way as the old one but theres plenty of air movement through the welder
Job a good un and it cost me nothing

should be the right way I think , now everyone on the net reading this will be stripping microwave ovens just make sure the wife doesn't catch you stripping hers before tea

If the microwave is fairly new, replace the fan with the broken one from the welder and take it back under warranty?
