After a long struggle with rusty bolts, I finally managed to remove the rear bumper from my old Saab 900. Both brackets are rusted beyond use, one had rusted in half.
I am assuming it is feasable to make new ones. Do I make them from single pieces, bent as required, or is it easier (and safe) to make them in bits and weld together? Anyone made their own? Any advice on how best to approach it? Presumably I would just use steel of the same grade and thickness.
I did look on ebay, but there is only one bracket listed atm, with a BIN price of £30.
Any comments welcome. Thanks.
