I need to make a new back door cill at home. Due to a combination of the missus standing on it and rubbish workmanship, it has curled and is leaning towards the frame meaning water will start trying to get in my house soon. The sealant has all pulled away leaving big gaps against the brickwork.
I need to do a nice job of making a new one that is maybe 1" thick rather than the paper thin thing that is there now bedded on mortar/expanding foam/cheese.
What is the best type of hardwood to go for? I would need to stain it after it is fitted so it matches the frame.
Thanks.
