Just a bit of feedback really and to say thanks to the forum in general.
I decided I wanted a MIG to help whilst I am restoring an old VW. I have welded a tiny amount years ago but have never owned a machine. Anyway i thought the VW was a great excuse and went looking for a MIG set. I spent a very long time reading the posts on this forum and after a lots of thinking and a call to Steve at Weldequip I bought the ESAB C160i.
I am using the ESAB with Argonsheild Lite and have now done a few runs. Here are the results. Please bear in mind I have never really welded in anger before so any feedback would be most appreciated (I know this is the wrong section for this).
Thin sheet 1mm
Fillet weld and some runs (3mm base plate 5mm vertical)
I really wanted to say that if anyone is looking for an inverter MIG which is very light and portable, an absolute dream to use and powerful enough to weld 4mm mild steel then have a look at one of these machines.
I have found so far that i need to set it lower than the plate thickness (i.e it seems more powerful than the dial shows 1mm sheet needs 0.5mm setting) This may just be me however.
