I've got some M8 tapped holes in 10mm mild steel plate that I'd like to enlarge to 8.5mm for tapping to M10, and I was wondering about the best way of going about this.
I'm assuming that the best solution will be to stick with the current holes and and just make it work with M8, and this will probably be what I do, but I was curious how other people would generally tackle this.
I'm guessing drilling is generally going to be frowned on as it will chew up the cutting 'shoulders' of the bit, and it would be hard to control if hand held, and using reamers would require a fair number of different diameters to bridge that size gap.
Any other top suggestions or tips, or would people just wing it with a 8.5mm HssCo bit?
