Hi,
Im sure most of you must remember the Honda CRX vtec's (Pre 92 shape)? Well i own one.
There has never been any 'pattern' track rod ends available for the Vtec models. People on the owners club have resorted to use another CRX models (16 valve) and have cut them down to fit. This makes them very unsafe in my opinion as there is little thread to screw the track rod end onto the steering rack.
These are available from Honda but they cost £200 or so.
Im wondering would it be possible to manufacture a small batch of these (20-30 pairs) for myself and the lots of people on the owners club?
Im guessing the machining of the TRE could be done using a CNC manchine which would be fairly easy but how would the balljoints be able to be 'pressed' in? Iv had a look on the internet and i cannot find a supplier for the balljoints that fit these kinds of TRE's.
Im wondering if anyone could shed some light onto this subject? im sure it could benifit ALOT of CRX owners if they were available.
Here are what the track rod ends look like, these are on a fiat but it was the closest design i could find on the internet. It that ball joint i am talking about, would anyone know where to get something like that from or any other alternative method?
If i could find some sort of balljoint that will work i could ask local engineering firms if they are interested in making a batch. Or would anyone know of an engineer up for making some TRE's?
Thanks
