Agree completely. The cable doesnt look cut there but agree it could easily happen (this is as i bought it - i didnt do that btw!!)That hole needs a grommet for sure! A bit of waggling on those cables and the insulation could end up being cut all the way through to the cores. That might have happened already and the neutral might be touching the metal sheet?
Sorry - just seen this. If i put the meter across L and E on the shorter section from the DB it doesnt read anything (not sure if I express that correctly but the meter doesnt change compared to the probes terminals not touching - i.e. no connection)Have you tested it between the choc block and the D/B?
Disconnect it at the choc block and try that just in case it's faulty on that section.
1.0 will be ok if the run isn't too long and the MCB is 6 amp.
I think i will replace this weird section of 2.5mm anyway to tidy it up and remove any unnecessary joins/failure points? I could just connect up to it I suppose but I can isolate the supply to the DB completely so will be safe to replace the wiring in there directly. That sounds ok then.

Thanks. I guess this just means its safe on mine as its on a 6amp MCB.1.0 can be OK on a 10A or even a 16A depending on the details of the circuit.
