Well. Lorry driver called me this morning to say he was on his way. He arrived in a 40 foot semi trailer vehicle. As he was moving the mill on the pallet in the back of the trailer it toppled. Fortunately the driver was uninjured.
The machine landed on its side. I got into the back of the trailer to assess the situation. The machine seemed to be undamaged apart from a few superficial bits and pieces.
The driver was upset but I told him not to worry; worse things happen at sea. Once back at the depot they will unload it with a forklift. I just hope it doesn't get damaged during that process.
Spoke to the depot and they will attempt redelivery after easter using a smaller vehicle. Fingers crossed it all goes better next time.

OMG just saw this
How stupid can they get? Having said that it would probably have happened with a smaller vehicle as well.
Did you take photos?
We specified an 18T with a tail lift.
How did he manage to topple it? Was he parked on uneven ground? Was it on a full sized pallet?
It is fully insured but it is VITAL you don't sign for it unless you are happy. If you think it is not too bad sign it as DAMAGED.
You know how you asked recently why some people trek across the country to collect something, rather than involving a courier? Perfect example of the reasoning.
Hope there's no serious damage Carl.
Yes fizzy, I suspect you are right. The vast majority of deliveries go as planned. The issue was the driver of the lorry today had no experience moving a top heavy load or of moving machinery.
Not only that, he was on his own with an extremely heavy and unstable load. He could easily have been hurt. I'm labouring the point a bit now I know, but thank goodness he wasn't.
He was in an unenviable position .
